Back to BlogArticle Takeover Part 2: Daniel’s Apprenticeship Experience at FPS

Meet our second and most recent apprentice Daniel who joined our technical team in August 2023 and has excelled in his performance and position within the team.  Our apprenticeships article part 2 will be all things Daniel, sharing his experience as an apprentice at FPS!

Describe a typical day in your current role at FPS.

A typical day for me, would start off with planning. I look at the roles that I have been tasked with recruiting for and make a strategy of how I will tackle each role individually. I then get on to the resources that I use for recruiting, for example, CV Library and LinkedIn to gather potential candidates. From then on, I would chat to as many candidates as possible and find out if they would be suitable for the role.

If it was the perfect day rather than a typical day, I might receive an interview offer from the client. I would then be the middleman in arranging the interview. I might also receive an offer from the client, in that case, I would get in touch with the candidate to offer them the position. Most of the time it is not as simple as that, but the small stumbling blocks that I might come across are just part of the job.

Tell us something about your team?

My team are very supportive. They have helped me gain the confidence to work independently and are always there to help if needed. I am comfortable asking them questions and learning from their expertise and experience. Since the day I joined, they have helped a lot and have made me feel at home.

What part of your current role do you find most enjoyable?

I find getting offers for candidates the most enjoyable. It is rewarding to know that you have helped someone in getting a new job. Often, a candidate might not be happy in their current role. Getting to help them in finding something new and exciting is a great feeling.

It is also nice as you feel as if you are doing well in finding the right candidates for the client, this has helped me build a relationship between the client and myself.

Why did you decide to apply for an apprenticeship?

I applied for the apprenticeship as I thought it would be the best step to take in finding a career I enjoyed. I had spent the best part of my last three years at university. I didn’t enjoy this style of learning and thought it would be much more valuable to be working and learning at the same time. I have not looked back since joining and I would highly recommend it to anyone who might be interested.

Benefits of Apprenticeships:

Earning While Learning: Unlike traditional education pathways that often involve tuition fees and student loans, apprenticeships provide a financial advantage. Apprentices are paid while they train, making it a cost-effective way to gain qualifications.

Mentorship: Apprentices work closely with experienced professionals who are there as mentors. This one-on-one guidance and support contribute to their growth and development, both professionally and personally.

Career Progression: Apprenticeships often lead to long-term career opportunities. Many continue working with the same employer after completing their apprenticeship, climbing the career ladder within the company.
