The Job – Quantity Surveyor

First People Solutions are currently recruiting an established Quantity Surevyor for a well reputed Main Contractor with projects across the Central Belt.

They require a Quantity Surveyor to work in Fife who has experience working for Main Contractors on a permanant basis overseeing construction projects such as schools, hospitals, industrial units, distilleries or care homes.

Job Summary:

The Quantity Surveyor is required to work within a highly-motivated team with an autonomous culture.

The Successful Candidate will be expected to work on their own initiative, but proactively with a team to produce detailed and competitive contractual documentation

Key Responsibilities / Requirements:

The Quantity Surveyor’s role shall include but are not limited to the following duties:

  • Reviewing the ongoing design process to ensure budget requirements are adhered to;
  • Valuation of value engineering options and design changes;
  • Producing quantities / schedules for procurement of sub-contract packages;
  • Preparation and issuing of sub-contract documentation to sub-contractors;
  • Re-measurement of sub-contract works for sub-contract valuations;
  • Reviewing and processing sub-contract payments;
  • Preparation of project interim valuations;
  • Preparation of monthly financial reports;
  • Attending meetings as required (with Designers, Sub-contractors and the Employers Team);
  • Preparation of contractual correspondence and notifications;
  • Liaising with site personnel to obtain site records and reconciling against works claimed;
  • Valuation of variations in line with the Contract Conditions;
  • Negotiating variations with Client’s commercial team;
  • Keeping records and all documentation in line with company policies.

Education and Experience

  • Appropriate Academic and Construction Qualification (HNC or Degree) .
  • Good communication skills to communicate with all members of the pre-construction/procurement team, Clients, Consultants and Directors.
  • Membership of a professional institution.
