First People Solutions are seeking Senior Quantity Surveyors for a very well established client within the Fibre, Telecoms and Civil / Utilities sector. The work will be based throughout Peterborough and within a booming sector / framework with a company who encourage career progression and who themselves are going from strength to strength.

  • Managing project cost from project inception to completion
  • Preparing project reports for Programme Management and updating as required
  • Attending regular Programme Management meetings to update on commercial performance and progress
  • Working with the Head of Construction Procurement to ensure systems are in place for good commercial governance and practices are established and maintained
  • Assisting in the preparation of tender packages, involving enquiries, analysis, negotiation and scope of works
  • Preparation of tender evaluation reports and input into tender recommendations
  • Commercial management of projects including procurement, negotiation, valuation, and settlement of final account with suppliers
  • Assess, optimise and control project costs
  • Produce monthly commercial reports, quarterly reports and cash flow information. Working with project teams to ensure flow of contract and commercial data into management team
  • Provision of commercial support to project teams with the timely preparation of contractual notices and correspondence. Including responsibility for the preparation and issuing of variation instructions, compensation events and/or change requests
  • Commercial management of project including procurement, negotiation, valuation, and settlement of final account with suppliers
  • Working with the Head of Construction Procurement to establish key performance indicators for projects to manage cost and ensure maximum profitability
  • Input into the database of contractors and suppliers for civil and network infrastructure works
  • Assisting in the adoption of appropriate contracting strategies for the services to projects including network construction, POPs and other elements critical to infrastructure projects

Essential

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience
  • Post-Contract experience in utilities/civil engineering for either a Contractor or Client (Consulting background with experience in contracting would be considered)
  • Experience of tendering packages of works
  • Experience within the telecoms or civil engineering industries
  • Experience of NEC3 ECC contracts, including Option B
  • Knowledge of Early Warnings and CE procedures within the NEC3 ECC

Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum CNVQ Level 3 qualification in a construction related area

Desirable

  • Degree level qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar
  • RICS/ICES qualification
