Civil Engineering Project Manager – Energy Projects

(BESS, Windfarms, Solar farms and Substations).

📍 Scotland, UK – Project Locations will very throughout Scotland. Candidates must be based in Scotland.

The Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join a large fast-growing, forward-thinking UK contractor delivering high-profile, multi-million-pound energy infrastructure projects across Scotland.

This role is ideal for an established Project Manager or an experienced Site Agent ready to take the next step in their career.

The Role:

As Project Manager, you will take full ownership of delivering complex civil engineering and energy projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget, while exceeding client expectations.

You will have the autonomy to lead project teams, manage stakeholders, and drive performance across all stages of the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the successful delivery of projects, ensuring objectives and client expectations are achieved or exceeded
  • Attend and manage tender handover processes, understanding scope, risks, opportunities, and contractual obligations
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular engagement and performance delivery
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee subcontractor packages and pre-start activities
  • Develop and manage project risk and opportunity registers
  • Lead project planning, ensuring efficient use of resources including labour, materials, and equipment
  • Monitor programme performance and ensure alignment with sequencing, design, and procurement timelines
  • Work closely with commercial teams to track performance, costs, and forecasting
  • Drive team performance, supporting development and maximising potential
  • Manage subcontractor relationships effectively
  • Implement quality and defect avoidance strategies throughout the project lifecycle
  • Promote a strong health, safety, and quality culture across site teams

About You

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a Project Manager or similar role (Site Agent) within heavy civil engineering.
  • Relevant civil engineering qualification.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering energy or infrastructure projects (BESS, Windfarms, Solar Farms, and T&D).
