First People Solutions are on the lookout for highly driven and ambitious chemical engineering graduates / junior chemical process engineers to join our client, a succesful engineering consultancy based in Ireland.

The successful candidate will work from our clients bustling Dublin-based design office where they will be mentored by senior engineers and designers. Over time you can expect to develop your technical skills through a combination of formal and on-the-job training, working alongside your colleagues to deliver innovative projects in the global semiconductor, data centre and advanced technology industries.

You will be joining a multi-discipline, highly interactive and coordinated design team working on multiple large-scale projects for market-leading clients and will grow to play a key part in the design of some of the most complex and technologically advanced process facilities in the world today.

Projects you could be involved with include include feasibility studies, long-range planning studies, and full design services including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and services during construction for design/bid/build and design/build projects.

Day to Day:

Working as a chemical engineering graduate you will be trained to competently complete the following activities;

  • Bring designs from feasibility & concept development right through detailed design to construction and commissioning.
  • Analyse and design complex systems, including Planar Chemical, Bulk Chemical, Specialty gases, Bulk gas systems, UPW systems, Waste water systems.
  • Prepare and update PFDs and P&IDs as part of managing process design development.
  • Develop, organise and control programmes to eliminate existing or potential process engineering problems and innovate and deliver plant improvements relating to energy efficiency for our clients.
  • Perform calculations for pipe sizing, relief valves, utility analysis to support design basis for facilities.
  • Contribute to HAZOP studies and ATEX requirements
  • Use a range of software packages to develop, optimise and troubleshoot process designs and analyze process problems. This will include fluid flow analysis software like PIPE-FLO and piping system stress analysis software (AutoPipe, Caesar or similar)

Skills & experience required:

  • Third level degree in a Process, Chemical, or other relevant engineering discipline.
  • An interest in working in pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, data centres and advanced technology industries and the fields of chemical process design, process automation, chemical process analysis, etc.
  • Internship or placement experience within the field of chemical engineering / process engineering is a bonus but not necesarry.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exhibit a passion and desire to learn and grow within a team environment on technically challenging and professionally rewarding projects.
  • Ability to multitask, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
