First People Solutions are currently assisting a large MEICA Engineering company based throughout the Central Belt on their search for an Estimator or Senior Estimator.

General Outline of the Post:

This is a demanding role which requires the need to adhere to tight time scales, whilst producing
accurate/realistic tenders, to ensure contracts are won. You will be experienced in preparing analytical
estimates and realistic tenders that ensures business sustainability through securing contracts.
You will be required to calculate and prepare tender submissions, prepare accurate contract costs that
deliver the full scope associated with the client brief, with appropriate levels of margin recovery to deliver
the required project profitability. Tender pricing will be prepared from drawings and detailed specifications
provided by the Client or Ross-shire Engineering.

Following the submission you will be required to attend client meetings, negotiate and record all changes to
the tender price, as required.

Key responsibilities, duties and tasks:

· Attend project start-up meetings and make site visits
· Liaison with the Client and their Professional representatives.
· Review tender documents assessing scope, risks involved, tender complexity and provide
feedback
· Work in a collaborative and proactive manner with other members of the estimating team.
· Preparation of Bill of Quantities and material Take Offs and pricing thereof.
· Produce enquiry schedules for scope of works and packages required from the tender
documentation, drawings and specifications for sub-contracted scopes.
· Managing and issue of appropriate enquiries for specialist/sub contract/material supplies.
· Evaluate returned quotations from suppliers and where necessary enters into correspondence with
suppliers to bring quotations in line with the project specification requirements
· Providing costing for contract preliminary items and any site specific temporary works.
· Estimating the costs for plant & equipment.

Person Specification: Key competencies, Skills, Experience and/or Training Requirements:

Essential:

· A self-sufficient Estimator with experience in a similar role
· Ability to interpret drawings and specifications to allow the preparation of Bills of
Quantities/Schedules of Rates and other such procurement documentation.
· Ability to be able to read and understand the sequencing of programmes or schedules.
· Qualifications appropriate to the role.
· Previous experience in a similar role required, preferably with water, industrial, renewables and/or
Oil & Gas industry experience.
· Must be able to meet tight deadlines.
· Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and with Clients.
· Although predominantly office based, there is a requirement to attend out of office meetings and
visit client sites. This may also require working away from home if the site visits or client meetings are not local to the RSE office.
· IT literacy in all Microsoft applications, in particular Excel and Word.

Desired:

· Previous Experience working with Estimating software packages i.e. Conquest.
· Conversant with British Standards, WIMES, CESWI and UK Municipal Water Company
Specifications.
· The ability to be able to populate a risk register with costs and time.
