Community Liason Officer

The Company

First People Solutions are working with a large construction consortium to recruit and manage a team of Community Liason Officers to manage temporary road works and diversions on the York Place to Newhaven Edinburgh trams project.

We require multiple individuals to start on the 11th of November 2019. The project is anticipated to be completed in approximately two years.

The role of the Community Liason Officers is key to maintaining a “business as usual” feel to the areas potentially affected by the planned construction works.

Key areas of responsibility and duties

  • Engage with the public, business representatives and delivery drivers.
  • To act as customer service/wayfinding officers for members of the public, assisting people to navigate the traffic management and site boundary.
  • Attending regular briefings to maintain detailed knowledge of construction plans affecting local businesses adjacent to their geographic area of work.
  • To aid deliveries to local businesses and, where necessary, receive goods from delivery drivers, temporarily store and subsequently deliver goods to business premises, keeping an accurate record of goods in transit.
  • Be a point of contact and a source of information to the public, businesses and delivery drivers, keeping an accurate record of key discussions and complaints/compliments.
  • Watching and banking delivery vehicles, ensuring their safe access and egress.
  • Offering support to members of the public and local businesses in a proactive manner, anticipating and taking steps to resolve potential issues before they happen.
  • Acting in compliance with safe working practices.
  • Covering breaks and ensuring hubs are not left unmanned, helping Logistics Officers in periods when delivery volumes are high.
  • Convey the organisation’s culture and identity.
  • The role of the Community Liason Officer will involve outside working, some manual lifting and long periods walking a designated area to assist the public with queries and directions.
  • You will also be IT literate and complete all activities on a CRM system on a tablet.
