FPS attended the Dubai Airshow 2015 on the 8th and 9th of November and here is our round up of just a little of what happened.

UAE AIR FORCE ANNOUNCES 1.27 BILLION USD DEAL WITH SAAB

The United Arab Emirates Air Force has signed a purchase agreement with Swedish Aerospace firm Saab at the Dubai Airshow. This purchase include two new Global 6000 long-range surveillance aircraft, featuring operating systems, which are new to the market as a result of  this 1.27 billion USD deal.

DUBAI AIRSHOW SEES LAUNCH OF 3D PRINTED UAV

The world’s fastest, largest and most complex 3D-printed drone was unveiled at this year’s Airshow.

The jet-engine powered unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is being demonstrated by show sponsor Stratasys, as part of its exhibition on the future of 3D printing technology in the aviation and space industries.

NEARLY $30 BILLION IN DEALS AGREED ON DAY TWO OF DUBAI AIRSHOW.

Orders at the Dubai Airshow flowed in thick and fast on day 2, as deals worth almost 30 billion USD were agreed.

Some of the big spenders at the world’s fastest growing aerospace event were Boeing and Jet Airways, who signed a deal worth approximately 8 billion USD which will see the manufacturer build 75 new 737 MAX aircraft for the Indian carrier, a partner airline of Abu Dhabi’s Etihad. Emirates and the UAE Ministry of Defence were also Among the big Spenders.

EMIRATES ‘LARGEST’ MRO

Emirates agreed a 16 billion USD maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) contract with General Electric Aviation. This was for its GE9X engines that will power the airline’s fleet of 150 Boeing 777X aircraft over a period of 12 years, making it Emirates’ largest single engine MRO contract to date.
